Easton’s Hubcap John Cleans Up

When your male roommate in college tells you it’s time to clean up your room, you probably know it’s time to clean up your room. Moms will make you do it when there’s an speck of dust, girlfriends when the first errant plate is sitting out on the dresser, but dude roommates? They usually let shit go. So, when they speak up, it’s a safe bet you have something resembling a catfish living in your closet.

So, Hubcap John is at the point where the roommate is coming in and going, “Seriously, this is just a tad over ridiculous.”

Easton officials said the owner of the Hubcap and Wheel Store is cleaning up his property — albeit very slowly.

Assistant City Solicitor Beth Knickerbocker said this morning the city visits the business off Route 22 every Monday to inspect owner John Sefcik’s progress in clearing scrap, debris and dilapidated vehicles.

“He is continuing to clean out the property slowly, very slowly,” Knickerbocker said in Northampton County court.

The inspections are part of a temporary court injunction. Sefick agreed to clean the property and allow weekly inspections in exchange for the city to stop seeking fines and jail time. Source

Yep, JAIL TIME if you don’t clean your room, pal.

I’ve never personally been IN the Hubcap and Wheel store, but from route 22 (just before you cross into New Jersey - kinda fitting) the place doesn’t exactly look like the best place for a second date. Read: car parts/garbage/random metal objects and hubcaps strewn not only in front of the store, but piled up far enough that you can see the mess from 40 feet or so away on the highway.

I’m not the cleanest guy in the world when it comes to keeping a room put together. I must admit I like to have my own mess as a sort of padlock to protect things. I KNOW where everything is, but no one is going to either touch it or bother to look.

Good luck to Hubcap John. I guess if my mom could have threatened jail on me I would have had the cleanest room in the fifth grade. But, that’s illegal!! HA MOM!
