Taking Pictures and Being Creepy is Illegal?
You know how they blur out the faces of people on “Cops” if they haven’t given their consent to be identified on television? You can sue someone if they do that. I’m not sure what the extent of the broadcasting is, but, you basically can’t take someone’s photograph and then put it all over the place without their consent.
But, can you take it and keep it? Can you just, you know, snap a few pictures of people downtown and then keep them to yourself?
I ask because I care.
Police are looking for an elderly man who was seen taking pictures of a girl as she got off the school bus in Nazareth last week.
Borough police said school bus driver Elmer Kennedy, 70, and the student, who was not identified, reported seeing the man with the camera about 3:15 p.m. Thursday at the corner of North Broad and East High streets.
Kennedy told police he had seen the man in the area for the past few days, but he could not provide a good description of him. The girl said only that he looked “very old” and had thin gray hair. Source
Obviously the guy doing this is creepy and probably should be questioned to see what the F he’s up to. However, can he be? I don’t know. Now I’m all confused. Can you be stopped by the cops for taking pictures and looking creepy? Is being a dirty old man a cause to get pulled over?
Discuss.
