Clerk Uses Golf Club to Ward off Robbers

Here’s one that will make people talk about gun control. I’m not sure why, but it will. People love talking about gun control.

What we really need to control are people sharing those “Win a free iPad!” posts on Facebook.

The owner of R.J. Mini Mart gas station keeps a golf club behind the cash register for protection but wasn’t sure if he would ever use it until he reflexively grabbed it Sunday night.

He said he was closing theBethlehemgas station’s market for the night when the two men entered. At 10:50 p.m. they attempted to rob the store at 418 E. Fourth St., police said.

One of the two masked men reportedly showed a handgun, police said. Bethlehem police Chief Jason Schiffer said the men fled the gas station after the owner pulled out the club.

“It was just an unplanned reaction,” said the owner, who also goes by the name R.J. He declined to give his full name, including his last name.

The owner said he was unsure if he would use the club — an iron — if he were robbed again. He had it behind the cash register today. He said he has never been robbed before but at least one of his employees had. SOURCE: The Express-Times

I’m assuming the gun wasn’t loaded or they just really never planned to actually use it in the first place if a golf club scared them off.

But, GOOD FOR this dude for protecting his business.
