Sheetz Wins Best Pennsylvania Convenience Store? (I Call B.S.)

In the battle between Wawa and Sheetz, it all comes down to convenience.

See what I did there?

Wawa wins this argument always based on the variety of foods, price and speed of service.

Sheetz may have better chicken finger thingies, but that’s about that.

When it comes to convenience stores in Pennsylvania, Sheetz is a statewide favorite, according to a survey by Harper Polling.

Fifty-one percent of the 798 Pennsylvania voters who participated in the poll said they preferred the Altoona-based chain over Wawa,Turkey Hill,7-Eleven and Rutter’s.

A regional breakdown of the state, however, tells a different story. While Sheetz’s popularity is strongest in central and western Pennsylvania, Wawa is heavily favored in southeastern Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley. Well, 798 people is a decent amount, but I just don’t think it’s large enough. I’m not sure why someone would pick a Sheetz over a Wawa if there was a Wawa close enough to go to…

Sheetz is way more expensive. Their food is like twice the price of Wawa, sometimes even 100 times more expensive (this is probably not true.)

But, whatever, 798 people have spoken. So, instead of being mean to each of these convenience stores, I’ll say what makes them good.

7-11 has Slurpees. They may be one of the best things in the summer. Yep, that’s about it.

Sheetz has outdoor seating at some locations.

Turkey Hill has good ice cream.

Wawa has meatball hoagies.

Wawa wins.
