Accused Rapist of Pregnant Girl Acts As Own Attorney Very Badly (FACEBOOK PROFILE)

There are a few times in life where you need to understand humility. There are some times in life where you totally don’t have the best story at the bar. There are times where, believe it or not, you’re out of your league.

Now, for me, this only really ever happens when people are talking about math and stuff since numbers and equations make me want to stick tiki torches through my eyelids.

In this guy’s case….ugh.. just read….

Kovet Simpson, 21, (FACEBOOK PROFILE) chose to defend himself at trial against the allegations that he raped a 19-year-old woman on Dec. 29, 2011, inside her city apartment.

“Basically, you know, I want to inform you today, in my own words, that I am innocent,” Simpson told the jury during his opening argument.

He could have at least watched ONE episode of Law & Order.

The victim was nearly eight months pregnant at the time of the alleged assault. The baby has since been born and is healthy.

Simpson, who was 20 at the time of the incident, allegedly called the victim around 3 a.m. and asked to stay at her apartment because he was intoxicated. Once there, police he starting touching her and ripped her blouse.

The victim testified she tried twice to call 911 during the attack, and said Simpson at one point put his hand over her mouth and dragged her across the bedroom floor before raping her.

Simpson, by choosing to act as his own defense attorney, was in the unusual position of cross-examining the woman he is accused of raping.

“You pushed me on to the bed,” the victim, now 20, said in response to questions by Simpson about the attack. “You grabbed me from behind.”

The questions turned into arguments between Simpson and the victim several times, with both repeatedly interrupting each other, prompting Lehigh County Judge Maria Dantos to stop them.

You know that judge was sitting there thinking of ways to find this joker in contempt.

Hubris. Look it up. That was the downfall of a bunch of dudes you read about in English lit. I’m sure you’re a really smart dude. Sure, really. But, sometimes, for your own benefit, it’s best to step back and let someone who actually knows something handle it.

Besides, the fact that this guy basically argued with the woman who he allegedly raped makes me a bit ill.
