Bethlehem Christmas Tree Tossing Charity Event Goes Smashingly

It’s not every Saturday that the Bethlehem Police Department sends you a tweet to get up to Stefko Blvd. to throw some Christmas trees in a parking lot for charity.
So, when that tweet comes through, you do the right thing and show up to throw some Christmas Trees.
The event is held each year to raise money for Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley. The Bethlehem Township and City police chiefs compete against each other for the longest throw with the loser forced to walk the winner to the next year’s event on horseback.
Yes. I’m serious.
More than $600 was raised this year and Bethlehem Police Chief Jason Schiffer successfully defended his title.
Honestly, next year, we’re training for this. For the record, however, we did totally beat the nine-year-old girl who participated.
