Man Falls Asleep in Front of Brush Fire, Cops Find His Drugs

The legality of backyard “fires” differs in each Lehigh Valley municipality. I’m pretty sure you can have a fire in Bethlehem City as long as it’s in one of those chimenea things, but not if it’s not.

I think you’re allowed to legally burn down your house in Bangor if you give your neighbor a week’s notice.

Where I grew up, you could pretty much go out back and burn whatever crap you had lying around the house that you didn’t want anymore. One time we didn’t want to move a couch, so we just lit it on fire. But, that’s how it was done in a land where people are responsible with their fires and burn barrels and lighter fluid.

Or people were just kinda crazy.

A man who started a fire in his back yard is facing more charges after drugs were found in his home, officials said.

Glenn A. Craig was arrested in connection with a brush fire in the back yard of the home where he lives with is mother at 211 Old Orchard Drive, Palmer Twp., Northampton Co., at about 9:20 p.m. Saturday, officials said.

Investigators found Craig sleeping on a recliner inside the back door of the home, about 10 feet from a small patch of grass that was on fire, officials said, adding that a burned five-gallon gas can, a smoldering shirt and blanket, and burnt matches and CDs were found nearby.

Officers found a white powder later determined to be cocaine, along with a razor blade and a straw, in the house after Craig’s mother Martha asked them to search the home for alcohol, officials said. SOURCE: WFMZ.com

That has to be the worst way to wake up. You just put your cool grass fire on in the back yard. You’re chilling with some booze and the tshirt that was on fire and, screw iPods, you have some CDs yo!

And then, the cops have to get all up in your mini-bonfire and then your mom has to get your drugs all confiscated.

Can’t a guy get a break anymore?
