Emmaus Woman Wins Instagram Contest With Super Awesome Photo

People make fun of Instagram for a variety of reasons. 1. There are too many pictures of food on it. 2. There are too many pictures of cats on it. 3. There are too many pictures of food and cats on it.

Whatever. I am the biggest proponent of the whole “turn it off” method of avoiding things.

If someone’s political rants or how much they love meat or how much they don’t love meat are annoying you on Facebook, then just block them or unsubscribe from their feed. I mean, you CAN do that.

OH, but wait, then YOU COULDN’T complain on Facebook about how much you hate how they do that.If you don’t want to hear about people complaining on Facebook, then… oh, I dunno, stop following the ones you don’t like. 

I get it now.

A photograph that shows a special moment between a woman and her granddaughter has landed a local woman in the spotlight.

Kate Carter, of Emmaus, Lehigh Co., (INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT) used Instagram to share that moment with the world and win a major contest in the process.

Then, a contest called “Express Yourself” was announced, looking for creative, out of the box self-portraits. Carter entered at the urging of friends.

“I really love the photo, but I don’t know if everyone will,” said Carter.

Everyone did love the photo. She won the competition, beating 450 entries, with a picture of Carter holding her grandmother’s hand.

“She and I were close, and she passed away like three weeks ago,” said Carter. “The photo was taken when she was in the hospital. It’s the last day I spent with her.”

Carter has taken more than 300 photos on Instagram, including some at the Bethlehem SteelStacks campus. SOURCE: WFMZ.com

Man, I have to stop posting these heart-warming things. I think it’s the whole holiday spirit or something. Or the fact that you can only post so much about someone eating drugs out of their butt.
