Emmaus’ School Bus 37 the Nexus of All Evil!

I remember when my sister turned 16 and finally got her driver’s license, which meant that she was now bound by family ties to bring me to school every morning. 

I was just happy to not have to ride the bus. I mean, besides the one time my sister ran into the back of that car and I spilled chocolate milk all over myself, she was a much better driver than the bus driver.

The school bus was also just.. well… I dunno. I think maybe I blacked out a lot of it. I usually just listened to my cassette player with Prince’s “Bat Dance” playing on it and zoned out and didn’t talk to anyone.

I was so emo before anyone even knew what a hipster was.

Apparently, this parent thinks that there’s one school bus in the Emmaus School District that must be stopped before it destroys all that is good and holy!

Emmaus parent Pat Luftman has had enough of the bad behavior that goes on inside bus 37 to Lower Macungie Middle School. Sexual conversations, racial slurs, ethnic and religious insults are just the beginning of what has been an eight-year struggle for Luftman, parent of two children in East Penn School District.

“This bus has been the site of much ill behavior on the part of a few students,” Luftman told the Board of Directors Monday night. She said she’s tried to work with administration at LMMS, but the behavior keeps coming back.

“What happens is we’ll have a peak of misbehavior, a few weeks of good behavior, and then it’s back to what it was,” Luftman said. She added that some incidents in the past have resulted in police meeting the bus at various stops, or the bus returning to school where the principal or vice principal have had to talk with the students who ride bus 37.

Luftman also mentioned that two students were permanently banned from the bus last year. There have been three incidents so far this school year, she said, and during the most recent incident which took place about a week ago, she said a representative from First Student, the bus company, came on the bus to talk to the kids.
