Co-Owner of Horns Gets DUI and Assaults Officers

Hmmm, well this can’t be a positive Yelp review.

Keep in mind this really has nothing to do with Horns other than the fact that this guy co-owns it, but, hey, if you’re putting yourself out there, you’re putting yourself out there.

This is another example of knowing when to JUST CALM DOWN is your best course of action. Sure, you’re still going to get a DUI and that’s not good, but at least you’re not going to be charged with some serious offenses.

John M. Silvestera, 39, of the 2500 block of North Delaware Drive in Forks Township, was allegedly driving while intoxicated on Route 22 eastbound at about 2:20 a.m. this morning in Easton. Silvestera is the co-owner of Bethlehem restaurant Horns, 123 W. Fourth St, according to court records.

Silvestera failed field sobriety tests, but refused to take a preliminary breath test during the stop, court papers say. That’s when police arrested Silvestera and drove him to the Easton DUI center, authorities report. Court records say Silvestera became belligerent in the back of the squad car, calling the trooper names and refusing to provide further biographical information.

Silvestera was allegedly uncooperative at the DUI center and tried to exit through an open door upon arrival. Officers escorted Silvestera inside where he allegedly refused to submit to a blood test.

While police were escorting Silvestera back to the police station, court records say he threw himself into an outside gate and began screaming that he was being assaulted and needed help. Police assisted Silvestera to his feet and he allegedly kicked the knee of Freemansburg police officer Steve Papcsy and then twice kicked the knee of Easton police Officer Vincent Bruneo. SOURCE: The Express-Times

I’ve always wondered if those who are successful in the community sometimes sit back and go, “Holy crap, I’m doing pretty well, which means I can totally buy a lot of alcohol and go out on the town and such, or I can continue to be successful and not kick cops.”

At the end of all of this, I guess, at least you can say it’s good that no one was seriously injured or killed.

And, being that it’s Labor Day weekend upcoming, cmon, people, use your head. Walk home drunk, it’s TOTALLY cooler and you can look at stuff and be like, “woahhh stuff on the sidewalk.”
