Drunk Palmer Dentist Loses License Due to Drunk Dentistry
There are probably a gaggle of jobs you can do while you’re slightly intoxicated. These include dishwasher, crossing guard, garbage man (non driver) and, I’m sure, many others.
There are also probably some jobs that you can be completely intoxicated and get away with doing a good job. These include laptop DJ, stripper, mayor.
The profession of “dentist” didn’t fall here because HOLY HELL WHY WOULD YOU BE DRUNK AND GIVE SOMEONE A ROOT CANAL YOU CRAZY PERSON?!?!?!?
A Palmer Township dentist who was involved in an hourlong standoff with police in February 2010 is temporarily barred from practicing amid allegations of alcohol abuse on the job.
Hey, many great people have had trouble with alcohol. It’s not uncommon at all. Maybe this is just one of those instances where the guy was going through a little bit of a hard time and will come back better than ever?
The dentist drew the concern Feb. 18, 2010, of an employee who called police as he “howled and screamed” in his 3811 Freemansburg Ave. home adjacent to his office, authorities said. Police said they entered his home after an hourlong standoff and seized two firearms.
Oh…
Prior to the incident, bottles of alcohol had been found in his home, his car and the dental office, according to a complaint filed against Scholes by the dentistry board.
After the incident in 2010, Scholes avoided attention until March 13, 2012, when he was found on the porch outside of his home “unresponsive and on his stomach,” according to court documents.
Two days later, according to court documents, Scholes was giving a patient a root canal when he moved away from the patient to get filling material, leaned his head against the wall and fell.
Um….
“I can’t do this,” Scholes said before dismissing the patient, according to court documents.
Then, on May 10, Scholes was found unresponsive with a cord from a dental tool around his neck, according to court records. During May, he was treated twice for alcohol intoxication at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, Pa., according to court records. SOURCE: The Express-Times
Wow.
Ok, so, this is pretty bad. And, to be honest, this is now more about getting this guy some serious help so that he’s able to live his life than it is about his whole dentist practice.
It just boggles my mind, maybe due to a lingering amount of naivety that my brain has left, that someone as “trusted” as a dentist would also be… human.
It’s not to say that these professionals aren’t human, but, at an early age you kinda just accept the fact that they can maybe do no wrong? Or, perhaps that’s just me. I just figured that when you were going to the dentist, they didn’t get drunk or try to fondle you when you slept in their chair.
Don’t forget, Musikfest has started and we have tons of prizes to give away in the Musikfest Photo Scavenger Hunt. All you need is a camera.
