Newspaper Carrier Punched In Face While Delivering Newspapers (FACEBOOK PROFILE)

“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their…” wait, nope, wrong delivery person. Newspaper carriers are more like, “You’ll get your paper if I feel like it and don’t get punched in the face by some guy trying to steal my car.”

Only in Easton.

Yep, that is the actual photo of the aftermath and submitted to The Express-Times.

Poor guy :(

An Express-Times newspaper carrier was assaulted this morning on South Side Easton, but insisted on completing his route, according to emergency radio reports and the newspaper’s circulation department.

John Werkheiser left his pickup truck before 5 this morning to deliver a paper near Berwick Street and Philadelphia Road and when he returned to the vehicle, he found someone inside, a family member told The Express-Times Circulation Department, Circulation Manager Jerry Luckenbach said about 6 this morning. Werkheiser got the man out of the truck, but the man took a swing at him, Luckenbach said. A second person jumped Werkheiser and the carrier likely suffered a broken nose, Luckenbach said. Police later confirmed this account.

Easton police officer Nathan White chased down one of the suspects after responding at 4:54 this morning, police Lt. Matthew Gerould said about 10:30 this morning. The other suspect was found hiding nearby, Gerould said.

And he completed his route because I’m sure he wanted to get paid. I don’t think newspaper carriers get much Obamacare yet.

However, in this case, I’m sure they would have at least given him something for his troubles if he had to call out sick for having a broken face.

As far as newspaper carriers go, though, it seems that these guys picked the wrong one to mess with. He doesn’t look like he’d back down from some punk kids.

Ahh, Easton, where regular daily routine things are also life threatening.
